Michael B. Jordan discusses his split with Lori Harvey
Michael B. Jordan is broadcasting live from Studio 8H! The 35-year-old actor, who also serves as the show’s musical guest, hosted Saturday Night Live for the first time this past weekend.
Jordan talked about how he “went through my very first public breakup” in his opening monologue, referring to his breakup with Lori Harvey in June 2022 after more than a year of dating.
“After a breakup, the majority of individuals say, “I’m going to get in better condition.” But I already had a Creed physique! “He went on to talk about the upcoming boxing movie he both directed and acts in. “I had to decide, “Well, I guess I’ll learn a new language,” because of this. Anyhow, I’m in Raya.”
Jordan was then approached by SNL cast members Chloe Fineman, Heidi Gardner, Ego Nwodim, and Punkie Johnson, with Nwodim, 34, sporting a bridal gown, and Johnson, 37, making light of her own sexuality.
Are you gay, then? Johnson questioned Jordan as she made out with him. The star responded by saying, “I am. You are Michael B. Jordan, though. I’m Punkie B, too. Curious. After all, even vegans indulge occasionally.”
Jordan participated in a number of sketches throughout the program, including one in which he played Jake from State Farm and another in which he played a Southwest agent in a joke that made fun of the airline.
Another scene from the program involved Jordan and Bowen Yang working together to capture the grunts and sound effects required for fighting video games.
The 28-year-old Lil Baby made his formal SNL debut and appeared twice throughout the program, first singing “California Breeze” and then returning to the stage to perform his song “Forever.”
The two tracks are from the artist’s it’s Only Me, the third studio album, which was made available in October 2022.
SNL’s 48th season has been in progress as the comedic sketch program deals with a significant cast transition. After the season 47 finale, longtime series regulars Kate McKinnon, Pete Davidson, Aidy Bryant, and Kyle Mooney left the show.
On September 1, a source later reported that Melissa Villaseor, Alex Moffat, and featured player Aristotle Athari would also be leaving the series. After five seasons, Chris Redd announced his retirement from SNL, while Cecily Strong quit the program in December 2022.
On September 15, NBC announced the names of the four new featured performers that will appear on Saturday Night live in season 48: Marcello Hernandez, Molly Kearney, Michael Longfellow, and Devon Walker.
Season 48 of SNL, according to creator Lorne Michaels, is in a “transition year” because “a different generation comes into the program” he said while speaking to reporters backstage at the 2022 Emmy Awards.
On February 4, Coldplay will perform as a musical guest and Pedro Pascal will host the show.
