Despite uncertainty over hosting Bangladesh and India, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is planning to start a T20 league in August.

According to details, Sri Lanka has managed to cope up with the Covid-19 pandemic better than many other countries around the world until now. SLC believes that there is an opportunity to host a tournament safely with significant foreign involvement. Meanwhile, other leagues are struggling to draw overseas talent.

SLC CEO Ashley de Silva has written a Lanka Premier League (LPL) prospect to other boards as well as approached different foreign players.

However, the tournament’s planning is in its early stages and SLC is currently working on a theory that LPL may only feature five teams that could last a little over three weeks.

SLC is also seeking to host India for three ODIs and as many T20Is, while Bangladesh will have to play three-test matches. We are still opposed to staging the Asia Cup 2020 in September.

It is pertinent to mention here that everyone’s looking for West Indies tour of England, as this will be the first international cricket activity to take place after a three months gap due to COVID-19.
