Savannah responded, “I do not feel qualified enough for this job. “I wish I were my mother, but I am not. She is the most loving, compassionate, and lovely person I have ever encountered. I have always said that if I were half as good as she was, I would be fine. Because I am surviving, I suppose in these circumstances I realize I am more like my mother than I realize. Then he said to his daughter, “Never have I been more pleased with you and the woman you are turning into. You have been put through the fire, and what God burns away will make you sparkle like gold.” She was going to visit him the following day, so he concluded by wishing her “safe travels.”
