‘No aid has made it to rebel-held Syria’, says activist

• Aid organizations have been unable to reach the rebel-held province of Idlib.
• Due to a lack of supplies, leading to a potential catastrophe.
• Aid from the US and Europe may be too late.

With the exception of a “Egyptian technical team,” activist Ahmed Abu Hamza informed Al-Yaum, no supplies have reached the rebel-held province of Idlib.

He said local crews would not be able to cope for more than a few days without help, adding: “There will be a catastrophe in northern Syria.”

A region that aid organizations had trouble reaching even before the earthquake is said to have lost more than 1,500 people.

Another panelist expressed their concern that support from the US and Europe might come too late.

A former MP who defected from the government in Damascus during the civil war said “no country can bear the toll alone, not Syria and not Turkey“.

Today, some aid from nations that support Syria or may be seen as potential friends was flown in, but it is feared the regime may prevent it from reaching areas controlled by opposition organizations.
