Osama Satti was shot dead by two policeman in January 2021.
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday heard the plea of two convicts of Osama Satti murder case and issued notices to the parties.
As per details, the Islamabad High Court was moved by the convicted policemen, who were awarded a death sentence by the district and sessions court in the Capital.
Additional sessions judge Zeba Chaudhry awarded death sentence to the two accused of Osama Satti murder case and life sentence to three others.
The convicted policemen, Iftikhar Ahmed and Muhammad Mustafa, challenged their death sentence in the IHC and pleaded with the court to nullify the verdict maintaining it as contradictory to the law.
A two-member bench comprising Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani and Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri heard the petition.
Notably, Osama Satti was killed by Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) personnel after he reportedly refused to stop his vehicle at a check post in Islamabad. The post-mortem report later found that the youth was shot multiple times from the front.
The incident occurred on January 2, 2021, when Osama went to drop his friend in Sector H-11 at around 2 AM. Police officials intercepted his vehicle in Sector G-10, Srinagar Highway and opened fire from all sides. Police claimed to have received a tip-off about a robbery in the area.
Five policemen were arrested and a First Information Report (FIR) was registered against them under anti-terrorism and murder provisions.
