Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said the Jail Bahro Tehreek has been kicked off and is an extension of the Haqiqi Azadi movement against the government.

In a video address to the nation, the PTI chief said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said the nation should be prepared for new wave of inflation in the country.

He reminded the prime minister of the statements in the past against the PTI government and the long marches against them. “This is the era of social media. You should remember your statements against inflation when we were in power,” he said.

He said Shehbaz Sharif was part of the conspiracy to bring down his government. “Shehbaz, Zardari, and Bajwa conspired to bring my government,” he said.

He said the PTI government was also part of the IMF programme but inflation was 12 percent. He added that price of electricity, petrol, and other commodities increased three-fold and the dollar went up by Rs100 in the past few months.

He said the current government is responsible for the worst economic crisis in the past five decades. He said rather than calling for sacrifices by the people, the government should focus on bringing their ill-gotten wealth back to the country.

“Do not fool nation by selling cars and houses. If you are really concerned then bring your wealth made from corruption back to Pakistan,” he said.

He said the people are ready for a revolution and will be on the streets if the election in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkwa are delayed beyond the mandated 90 days.

He hailed the people of Lahore for coming out during the Jail Bahro movement and surrendering themselves for arrest. He also commended them for the overwhelming response when he reached court to secure bail.

“It was a conspiracy against the nation to see the condition today,” he said, adding that Haqiqi Azadi movement was launched to ensure the rule of law. He said the worst atrocities were unleased over their basic right to peaceful protests.

He said that fake cases were lodged against them and even the NAB chairman refused to files bogus cases. He said cases worth Rs1100 billion were waived off but still the government wants the people to make sacrifices.

He warned that caretaker governments of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for not abiding by the constitution.  The PTI chief said interim government cannot stay in power for more than 90 days.

He said Article 6 should be imposed against the Chief Election Commissioner for the way the interim governments have been formed. “It seems like that Zardari is ruling in one province and Fazlur Rehman in another,” he said.

He vowed to take action against those police officers who unleased brutal forces against PTI workers.

He added that the people should be ready to defend the constitution. He hailed those who have volunteered to be part of the Jail Bahro Tehreek.
