QUETTA: The Marri tribe has ended the days-long sit-in seeking justice for the gruesome murders of three people, including a woman, in Barkhan district.

Chairman Marri Ittehad Meharuddin Marri said they have decided to end the protest sit-in after receiving assurances from the Khan of Kalat’s brother Prince Umar Agha.

“We will not allow others to use our martyrs,” he said, adding that Khan Muhammad Marri, whose family members were killed, had urged for the burial yesterday.

He said the provincial government is not cooperating with them and is support Balochistan Minister Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran, who is allegedly to have kept the victim in a private prison before they were brutally murdered.

He thanked Inspector-General Police (IGP) Balochistan for recovering the hostages and accepting their demands. The Levies forces had conducted an operation in Kohlu and recovered the woman, Giran Naz, who was presumed dead in the Barkhan killings, and her two children.

He said the bodies are being taken for DNA tests and the burial will be announced later. He said Giran Naz and her daughter will be taken to Karachi for medical treatment.

It must be mentioned Marri Ittehad is divided over ending the sit-in until their demands are not fulfilled. The Marri tribesman states they reverence for the Khan of Kalat’s brother but will not end the sit-in on his request.

Meanwhile, the Special Investigation Team has left for Barkhan to investigate the murder case. A team headed by Commandant Balochistan Constabulary Salman Chaudhry will inspect the crime scene.

The investigation team will record the statements of different people and collect evidence in Barkhan. The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) will also filed a  report on the statements of Khan Muhammad Marri after meeting hi family.

Giran Naz, the wife of Khan Muhammad Marri, has been transferred to Quetta along with her five children. This included her daughter Farzana, 18-year-old Abdul Majid, and 12-year-old Nawaz who were recovered along with her.
