PSL 8: Caretaker GoP decided not to waive off Rs500 million bill
According to sources, the caretaker government in Punjab has decided against waiving the Rs500 million payment for the current eighth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
It was determined at a cabinet meeting today, presided over by interim Chief Minister of Punjab Mohsin Naqvi, that the government would not waive the significant cost of the event.
According to other sources, the government will begin making preparations once the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has paid Rs250 million.
It is important to note that the Punjab government has already spent Rs450 million on PSL match preparations.
Usman Wahla, the PSL’s director, arrived in Karachi on Saturday to keep an eye on the preparations for the PSL 8 matches that are still to be played at the National Bank Cricket Arena.
After receiving a sizable bill from the state government, PCB is reportedly mulling moving the Punjab leg of PSL 8 to Karachi.
Friday saw a unanimous decision by the PCB and PSL franchisees to forgo paying an additional 450 million rupees to the Punjab government.
The updated timetable has also been negotiated with the franchisees in the interim.
White-ball matches between Pakistan and New Zealand in April and May might also be moved out of Punjab as a result of the impasse.
Lahore will host nine games, while Rawalpindi will host 11 games, according to the current schedule.
In addition to the semifinals and final, Lahore will host the closing ceremony.
