ISLAMABAD: Since its start, the Pakistan Super League (PSL) has rescued and elevated a number of cricketers from obscurity.

Usman Khan, who was relatively unknown prior to this season, has gained attention thanks to his rapid century against the Quetta Gladiators, which was the fastest in PSL history and came off just 36 balls.

The Multan Sultans’ opening batsman told that he had never even dared to imagine striking a century off just 36 balls in T20 cricket; instead, it just occurred naturally.

Sultan said, “This was something I never thought of doing, I just played my natural game and it just happened in the flow. This wasn’t something I had planned.”

Usman claimed he began playing cricket in Sheikhupura, but after moving to Karachi in an effort to gain more exposure, he was first spotted at Ramzan Cricket competitions. He had the chance to play for Sindh’s second XI but never in the starting lineup.

Usman moved to the United Arab Emirates after considering attempting his profession in another nation as a result (UAE).

Usman kept playing in the UAE. He was initially selected by the Quetta Gladiators in the 2021 season, and for them, he scored 81 on debut, but he didn’t receive a decent run. He had also participated in the Bangladesh Premier League and T10.

Usman may have gained widespread attention thanks to his century in the PSL, but he still intends to keep trying his luck in the UAE.

Khan said, “You know how things are in Pakistan. You play one season and next season you are out. I will continue to play in UAE because I feel that I can get the opportunity to play international cricket from UAE.”

“I have no regrets, no complaints. I don’t know what would’ve happened if I had gotten a proper chance here.”

The athlete expressed his gratitude to the team for the opportunity and stated he is enjoying his stay with the Multan Sultans.

Usman said, “I know that other openers on the side are much better than me, I was waiting for my opportunity, in the previous game I was unfortunate but yesterday, my hard work produced a result for me.”

“Rizwan had given me confidence and told me that I should continue playing my natural way. When I was in 80s, he told me to calm down but I said to him that let me play with the flow.”

The cricketer claimed that when going to bat, his main thought is to give his all for the team and that he never considers records.

“Records are made to be broken. I’m pleased to have scored the PSL’s quickest century, but I’ll forget about this game when I play the next game. I don’t think about the past; instead, I focus on the future,” he declared.

Usman remarked, “Many people talk about Shahid Afridi, but I am in no way close to him; he is a legend.

In response to a question, the cricket player stated that he practices for at least five hours every day and that when a player devotes this much time to the field, his shot selection usually improves.

Usman declared, “I only want to play good cricket and leave a positive impression in people’s minds.
