Prince Philip’s ‘cruel’ affair in ‘The Crown’ would ‘hurt’ people
Prince Philip’s reaction to Harry and Meghan Markle’s Oprah interview would be “unprintable,” a journalist remarked during a debate on Harry’s charges against the British media.
Since their departure from the UK, Meghan and Harry have been blasting the media and accusing it of collaborating with the royal family.
Camilla Tominey, speaking at the Society of Editors’ Media Freedom Conference in London, stated that Prince Harry did not react to a request for participation.
The panel moderator read many excerpts from Harry’s book ‘Spare’ before the group began their debate.
The magazine said that some of the remarks were that the press had “gone to bed with the devil” and the assertions of “the leaking and planting of stories”.
Tominey said she wanted to ask the late Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, what he thought of Harry and Meghan’s interview with Oprah Winfrey, but added, “I’m not sure it would be printable.”
Philip died only days after Harry and Meghan’s Oprah appearance.
The Daily Mirror’s royal editor Russell Myers defended the media’s coverage of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex at the conference, claiming it was “overwhelmingly positive” when Meghan first appeared on the scene.
