LAHORE: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Dr Usman Anwar has said that there was no clash and confrontation between Punjab and Gilgit Baltistan police at Zaman Park when the latter went there to arrest the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and termed the news baseless.

He said this while addressing a press conference along with Punjab Caretaker Information Minister Aamir Mir in Lahore on Thursday.

The IGP said that the court’s order would be implemented in letter and spirit, adding the Lahore High Court (LHC) asked them to resolve the issue through talks.

He added that the LHC stopped the police from taking any action till tomorrow.

Dr Anwar asserted, “Police didn’t even try to harm anyone.”

He blamed that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was working to make Zaman Park a no-go area. He further emphasized that the no-go area meant that the police could not conduct any operation there.

The IG also disclosed that the DIG Islamabad went to Zaman Park to execute the arrest warrant issued by the Islamabad court. He said that cases had been filed regarding the incidents that happened around Zaman Park.
