Iran shot down “dummy American aircraft” during a military exercise

According to Iranian state TV, the Revolutionary Guards have destroyed a dummy US aircraft carrier during military exercises.

A dummy of a US aircraft carrier was hit during a training exercise in the Gulf on Tuesday. These military exercises near the main waterway of the Strait of Hormuz baptized as “Prophet Muhammad 14”.

The exercises are being held at a time when tensions between the United States and Iran are at an all-time high.

Footage shown on state TV shows Iran’s Revolutionary Guards and navy preparing for the attack. In the footage, speedboats can be seen as moving disciplined towards this dummy aircraft carrier.

The target was shelled by ground artillery while a missile was fired from a helicopter.

According to the AFP news agency, there were rows of fake warplanes on the dummy of the Nimtz class aircraft carrier. The footage also shows rockets fired from military trucks and the damage they cause.

However, after the successful attack, high-speed boats were shown approaching and surrounding the ship.

Maj. Gen. Hussain Salami, commander of the Revolutionary Guards, told state television that “these exercises show the aggressive readiness of the air and naval forces.”

The U.S. Navy has called Iran’s naval exercises “irresponsible and reckless.”

The exercises come days after Iran accused US warplanes of harassing an Iranian airliner in Syrian airspace.

Four passengers of Mahan Airlines were also injured in the incident. It may be recalled that in June last year, Iran shot down a US drone in the Gulf region.

In mid-April this year, the United States accused Iran’s Revolutionary Guards of harassing US warships in the Gulf on its speedboats.
