NADRA (FRC) Fees Update in Pakistan for April 2024
NADRA has updated the fee for Family Registration Certificates (FRC) in Pakistan...
In a move aimed at easing the burden on the public, the Punjab Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control Department has announced the cessation of fee collection for vehicle number plates. This decision permits citizens to acquire their number plates from local vendors while adhering to government-approved designs.
Previously, the registration process required a fee of Rs 1500 for motorcycles and Rs 2000 for cars for computerized number plates. However, this fee has now been waived, signaling a notable change in the department’s policy.
Historical data from the department reveals that over 2.5 million individuals were charged for number plates, but the delivery process faced significant delays, extending over three years. Consequently, citizens resorted to obtaining duplicate number plates for their vehicles.
The public has warmly welcomed this decision, having experienced substantial inconvenience due to the prolonged delay in receiving their number plates. One citizen expressed relief, stating, “This is a positive step. Now we can obtain number plates from the market at our convenience.”
Sources suggest that the decision was reached following an agreement between the department and a local company. Officials from the Excise Department affirmed that the decision was made in response to the challenges encountered by citizens regarding number plate procurement.
