Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif authorized funds for 630 new public buses for the urban transport system on Monday.
The buses will serve cities such as Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, Faisalabad, and Bahawalpur, bringing benefits to their urban transport systems.
The approval took place during a meeting of the Cabinet Standing Committee on Finance and Development. Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Finance Minister Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, Senator Pervez Rasheed, the Chief Secretary, Inspector General (IG) Punjab, Chairman P&D, and Secretaries of Finance, Local Government, and Information were among the attendees.
During the meeting, the committee discussed various development initiatives, including funding for upgrading the Government Pilot Boys High School on Wahdat Road. Additionally, approval was given for providing 150 e-bikes to female police officers.
During the meeting, decisions were made, including approving a special allowance for 332 under-officers of the Anti-Terrorism Department.
Furthermore, there are plans for establishing a Water and Sanitation Services Company in Sahiwal. Additionally, the Lahore Development Plan is receiving Rs. 34 billion for various development schemes.
Officials also agreed in principle to upgrade Govt. Syed Muhammad Hussain TB Hospital Samli to a general hospital. After a briefing on field hospital establishments in Murree, the Chief Minister instructed the immediate release of all funds for upgrading Tertiary Care Hospitals.
