The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) has been assigned the responsibility of modernizing the current infrastructure, including hotspots. This initiative aims to improve internet accessibility in vital areas by fostering connectivity and optimizing communication channels.
CM Maryam approved the project during a recent high-level meeting with PITB officials, emphasizing the rollout of free WiFi services in educational institutions, airports, railway stations, and bus stands. The initiative will extend to 516 locations throughout Lahore.
The service, once overseen by Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL), is now managed by the PITB. This change is expected to bring substantial advantages to the public, heralding a new era of digital empowerment in Lahore.
