Pakistan Announces Public Holiday for Labour Day on May 1, 2024

The government of Sindh has declared May 1st as a public holiday for Labour Day. A notification from the Chief Secretary Sindh confirms that all government offices, autonomous bodies, corporations, and local councils under Sindh government control will have a holiday, except for essential services.

The federal government has not yet announced the holiday officially. People are waiting for the official announcement.

It’s important to note that the Cabinet Division circular for this year already includes May 1st as a public holiday. Punjab and other areas will also have holidays in schools and offices soon.

Pakistan’s central bank is also likely to declare May 1st as a bank holiday. International Labor Day, celebrated worldwide on May 1st, is a day to honor workers’ contributions and advocate for their rights.
