Emma Watson had a light banter with Rebel Wilson on the BAFTA award

The BAFTA Awards 2022 were hosted at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Sunday, 13th March. The British Academy Awards honour the greatest in film and television. This year’s BAFTA Awards emcee, Rebel Wilson, made a somewhat amusing introduction before inviting Watson on stage to give an award. According to the Australian actress, “Emma Watson is here to give the next prize. We all know she’s a witch, despite the fact that she labels herself a feminist.” While Wilson’s amusing introduction elicited laughter from the audience. Moreover Watson responded with an incredible retort that send the people in fits.

“I’m here for all the witches!” Emma exclaimed as she took the stage in response to Wilson. Watson’s remark about “ALL witches” has sparked speculation that it was a swipe at Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling. Who is embroiled in a dispute over transphobic remarks.

Although Emma wasn’t the only one who appeared to throw shade at Rowling during the awards show. During one of the show’s segments, host Rebel Wilson discussed her weight loss quest. Saying she has undergone a “transformation” and now appears to be a new person. “I hope JK Rowling still approves,” she added afterwards.

Wilson and Watson’s comments at Rowling are in response to the author’s divisive views on transgender people. As well as her recent International Women’s Day tweet, which was widely panned online.
