BEIJING: The first shipment of Pakistani mangoes for the current season will be delivered by air freight to Kunming, China’s South-Western Yunnan province’s capital.

According to Adnan Hafeez, director of Imperial Ventures (Pvt) Ltd, the shipment of 3-4 tonnes of “Sindhri” variety mangoes is expected to arrive on May 28 as per the airline’s tentative timetable.

He went on to say that the Pakistani mangoes would be sold in the market following customs clearance and requisite certifications from the Chinese authorities.

For the previous six years, Imperial Ventures Private Limited’s indigenous premium fruit brand “The Farm’s Choice” has been actively promoting and marketing Pakistani mango in China, with a strong growth trend.

According to him, this year’s mango exports from Pakistan to China are expected to reach 100 tonnes, a nearly 100 percent rise over last year, although the current COVID-19 outbreak in China could have an impact.

“We also look forward that all relevant departments will provide close coordination and all possible support to make it successful,” he added.

Many Chinese individuals, according to Adnan Hafeez, prefer mangoes imported from South Asian countries, particularly Pakistan, because of the pulp and flavour.

Because of the all-weather relationship between Pakistan and China, Chinese customers have an emotional tie to Pakistani products, particularly mangoes.

According to government data, Pakistan is one of the world’s top mango producers, and mango is considered the king of fruits in Pakistan.

The soil and climate conditions in Pakistan are ideal for the production of high-quality mangoes over a five- to the six-month growing season.
