Cassidy Hutchinson, a former White House aide, said before a congressional committee investigating the 2021 attack on the US Capitol that her former boss, Mark Meadows, barely responded to reports of probable violence at the Capitol.

On the afternoon of January 6, 2021, Hutchinson recalled Cipollone telling Meadows, “Mark, something needs to be done or people are going to die and the blood will be on your fucking hands.”

Hutchinson stated that Meadows told Cipollone that the president did not wish to intervene in the insurrection. After learning that rioters were yelling “Hang Mike Pence,” Meadows stated that Trump “doesn’t think they’re doing anything wrong,” as reported by Hutchinson.

Hutchinson stated that she and Meadows were aware of the fact that many Trump supporters were equipped with knives, firearms, and bear spray, but Meadows exhibited a “lack of emotion.” She testified that Meadows would frequently scroll on his phone after getting such information and barely reply.
