CHICAGO: Many exhibitors launched items with a typical salty-and-sweet mix at the 2022 Sweets & Snacks Expo, introducing the latest salty snacks.

This year, caramel and salt have been a popular taste combination for snack manufacturers, with several brands introducing snacks with such flavor combinations. Second Nature Brands has introduced the Sea Salt Caramel Crunch snack, which blends the company’s dark chocolate caramels with a mix of nuts such as almonds, cashews, and pecans, as well as dried strawberries.

Flipz Clusterz, a chocolate cluster with salted pretzel pieces and caramel, was introduced by Pladis North America’s Flipz brand.

Companies like Prevail Jerky are taking salty snacks in a new way, focusing on capturing umami in their goods.

At the exhibition, Prevail Jerky debuted its Umami Beef Jerky. The gluten-free, paleo-certified cherry-wood-smoked jerky contains no top-eight allergens.
