Next month, UK postal employees in the United Kingdom will conduct their third nationwide strike of 2022, as industrial unrest over below-inflation pay settlements spreads throughout the public and private sectors.

The Communication Workers Union announced on Monday that approximately 1,500 workers at 114 Crown post offices – major high street branches of the state-owned group’s network — will strike for one day on July 11.

The CWU stated that members rejected a salary offer of 3% plus a £500 lump sum as “woefully inadequate” in light of double-digit inflation. Earlier strikes occurred throughout the Jubilee bank holiday weekend and earlier in the spring.

Later this week, the CWU will disclose the results of a second ballot about prospective industrial action at BT Group. It is also about to launch a poll on prospective action at Royal Mail, which may result in a strike of more than 115,000 employees later this summer.
