The board of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) is looking into a $3 million hush-money deal paid by CEO Vince McMahon to a woman over an alleged affair, according to The Wall Street Journal, citing papers and people familiar with the situation.

The agreement, reached in January, is meant to restrict the lady, who formerly worked as a paralegal for the company, from disclosing her relationship with McMahon or making disparaging statements about the CEO, according to the Journal.

According to a WWE representative, the corporation is cooperating with the board’s investigation and McMahon’s connection with the woman was consensual.

McMahon, 76, is married to Linda McMahon, who served as WWE CEO and Small Business Cabinet administrator in former President Donald Trump’s administration and is a WWE Hall of Famer.

According to the report, the board’s inquiry, which began in April, also discovered nondisclosure agreements relating to misbehavior charges made by other women who worked at WWE. According to the Journal, these deals involved McMahon and WWE talent chief John Laurinaitis, who competed as Johnny Ace.

Jerry McDevitt, McMahon’s lawyer, was not immediately available for comment. McDevitt told the Journal that the former employee made no claims of harassment against McMahon. According to the article, he also claimed that WWE did not pay her.
