ISLAMABAD: The outgoing defence secretary Lieutenant General Mian Muhammad Hilal Hussain (SIM) (Retd) paid a visit to the Islamabad Policy Research Institute (IPRI), a statement said on Saturday.
During his visit, the secretary pointed out as to how the economic ventures under the Frontier Works Organisation, Fauji Foundation and the Army Welfare Trust have a successful nomenclature of business and management, and the transparency with which these organisations work.
He took pride in saying that almost all landmarks of construction in the Karakoram Highway, Balochistan and China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) were dealt with by the military successfully.
The defence budget of Pakistan in comparison to the soaring allocations of India was also discussed.
The allocations to the military have nosedived and are shrinking in terms of dollar owing to inflation, which has now hit almost 40 per cent, he said, adding that the army is making ends meet with immense articulation, and stands out as a force to be reckoned with.
He also took questions from the floor, and pointed out as to how charity, welfare and investment proceeds are professionally and wisely managed for the martyrs’ families and other welfare-related initiatives.
