K-Electric requests Rs7.04/unit reduction for November FCA
KARACHI: The K-Electric has filed a petition for a reduction in the fuel charges adjustment (FCA) at the rate of Rs7.04/unit for the month of November, 2022.
In this context, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) announced a public hearing on December 27 over the petition submitted by K-Electric.
FCAs are dependent on changes in the global prices of fuel and are passed on to consumer bills under the prescribed rules and regulations of Nepra and the government.
The charges are approved by the Nepra after reviewing, who also specifies the month during which the charges are applied in the consumer bills.
November’s FCA was lower primarily due to an 18 per cent reduction in the prices of regasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG), 15 per cent in furnace oil and 37 per cent in the power purchased from the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA-G), as compared with September 2022.
