Expected Petrol prices in Pakistan from February 16
Amidst a global decline in oil prices, the caretaker federal government in Pakistan is poised to bring relief to the public in the upcoming fortnightly review of petrol and diesel prices. International reports indicate a significant $5.49 per barrel drop in petrol prices, prompting expectations of a substantial Rs13 per liter reduction in Pakistan.
Similarly, diesel prices are predicted to decrease by Rs 15 per liter, responding to public demands for adjustments in petroleum rates due to the ongoing decrease in global prices.
Despite the earlier decision to keep petrol and diesel prices unchanged for the first fortnight of December 2023, the caretaker government now appears inclined to pass on the benefits of reduced international rates to consumers.
Presently, petrol is priced at Rs 281.34 per liter, and diesel is available at Rs 289.79 per liter.
However, if the expected adjustments materialize, the new rates from December 16, 2023, could be Rs 268.34 per liter for petrol and Rs 274.79 per liter for diesel, offering welcome relief to consumers grappling with rising living costs.
