Punjab Driving License Minimum Age Limit Update – Feb 2024
In Lahore, Punjab’s traffic police have initiated a crackdown on individuals driving vehicles without proper licenses.
According to the law, it is compulsory to acquire a driving license from the appropriate authority if you qualify and fulfill the criteria.
The minimum age requirement for acquiring a driving license varies depending on the type of vehicle.
Section 4 of the Motor Vehicle Ordinance 1965 outlines the minimum age requirements for all categories of driving licenses.
The minimum age requirement for a car or motorcycle driving license is 18 years. This implies that individuals who are at least 18 years old can apply for a license in this category.
Applicants must be at least 21 years old to obtain a license for light traffic vehicles (LTV). This means individuals must be 21 years old at the time of submitting their application for an LTV license.
The minimum age requirement for obtaining a license for Heavy Traffic Vehicles (HTV) is 22 years.
The interim government of Punjab has recently announced a significant increase in the fees for driving licenses.
Previously, the government charged Rs 550 for a motorcycle driving license with a five-year validity period. However, starting January 16, 2024, citizens of Punjab will be required to pay Rs 500 annually for the license.
