Cement industry sees growth in export sector
During the week ending March 7, the retail price of cement in Pakistan witnessed a decline. According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the average retail price per sack of cement in the northern regions dropped to Rs. 1248, marking a decrease of 0.29% compared to the previous week’s average of Rs. 1251.
Similarly, in the southern regions, the average retail price remained steady at Rs. 1205 per sack, unchanged from the previous week.
Analyzing city-wise statistics, Islamabad recorded an average price of Rs. 1225 per sack, while Rawalpindi stood at Rs. 1215. Other cities such as Gujranwala, Sialkot, Lahore, Faisalabad, and Multan reported prices ranging from Rs. 1242 to Rs. 1286 per sack.
In Karachi, the average retail price was recorded at Rs. 1172, with Hyderabad at Rs. 1180. Sukkur and Larkana reported higher prices at Rs. 1300 and Rs. 1173 respectively. Quetta recorded a price of Rs. 1205 per sack, while Khuzdar stood at Rs. 1197.
The decrease in cement prices across various regions of Pakistan offers relief to consumers and builders alike, potentially stimulating construction activities in the country.
