Renault Introduces Super Cheap Electric Vehicle
If you’re tired of hearing about the exceedingly priced EVs from Rolls Royce, Tesla, or Lucid, then the new Renault 5 E-Tech might be just what you need. Designed to be practical and affordable, this recent release from Renault is incredibly compact and boasts a retro style ideal for city commuting.
Renault 5 E-Tech
The Renault 5 is a practical vehicle, measuring 154.3 inches in length, which facilitates easy maneuvering in city traffic. With a boot capacity of 326 liters, it provides ample space for your grocery shopping needs. Additionally, its 40:60 rear seat split allows for maximizing boot capacity when carrying larger items. Although it features a 4-door design, it is best suited for accommodating two adults and two children, as the rear headroom and legroom may be compromised. Sporting 18-inch wheels, the Renault 5 boasts a sporty yet compact appearance, ideal for navigating the uneven city roads.
Performance
Not intended for high-speed performance or luxury, this car boasts a clean and stylish design, with a more French-inspired aesthetic rather than a futuristic one. It comes with two available battery sizes: 40 kWh and 52 kWh. The smaller battery pack delivers 95 HP and 156 lb-ft of torque, while the larger battery pack offers 120 HP and 166 lb-ft, allowing for acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in 7 seconds. This B-segment mini provides a range of 186 miles with the smaller battery and 249 miles with the larger battery.
Sustainable Interior
This hatchback is a thoughtful, sustainable design with a dusty-colored interior suitable for daily driving. Its seats, dash, and door panels are made of denim extracted from recycled plastic bottles. It has fine leather upholstery with concealed airbags in the dash.
Having a 7-inch driver display and 10-inch infotainment system with all physical buttons doesn’t compel the driver to fumble on touch pads in the dark.
Special Features
The Renault 5 has got a ‘baguette holder’ specifically designed to keep the tabular loaf soft and fresh till the lunch break. The best thing about this EV is that it has a bidirectional AC charging feature that saves on electricity bills while sending the currents back to the grid.
Available on sale next year at 25,000 pounds, it is expected to be a hit among people who love practicality while adding a touch of funkiness with its color schemes of pop-yellow, pop-green, black, white, and dark blue.
