Dubai taxi fare per kilometer – July 2024
In Dubai, taxis are a popular mode of transportation, allowing residents and visitors to navigate the city effortlessly while avoiding crowded metro trains.
Though taxi rides are relatively more expensive, they save time and offer reliable service. Thousands of passengers use taxis daily to commute to workplaces or shopping centers.
Petrol prices in the UAE have been on the rise until May 2024. For instance, the price of Special 95 petrol increased from Dh2.71 per litre in January to Dh3.22 per litre in May 2024, a rise of 51 fils over the first five months of the year.
This continuous increase in petrol prices forced taxi companies to hike their per kilometer fare.
According to the Dubai Taxi Company PJSC (DTC) website, the per kilometer charge for taxis in Dubai is now Dh2.09, following a 12 fils increase.
This adjustment reflects the rising fuel costs, impacting daily commuters who rely on taxis for their transportation needs.
In June 2024, the UAE government provided relief to the public by reducing petrol and diesel prices by 20 fils per litre.
Currently, Super 98 petrol is priced at AED 3.14 per litre, Special 95 petrol at Dhs3.02 per litre, E-plus 91 petrol at Dhs2.95 per litre, and diesel at Dhs2.88 per litre.
With the government expected to further decrease petrol prices in July 2024, taxi companies are likely to reduce their per kilometer charges accordingly.
This anticipated reduction in taxi fares will provide some financial relief to daily commuters, making taxis a more affordable transportation option in Dubai.
