Cement industry sees growth in export sector
The price of a cement sack has surged by 300 rupees, complicating home construction for the poor. Following the latest budget, a bag of cement in Lahore now costs Rs 1500, an increase of Rs 300.
Additionally, the prices of other materials such as sand, gravel, and bricks have also risen.
The Chairman of the Cement Dealers Association stated that the excise duty on cement has gone up by Rs 1 to Rs 2 due to the new budget, leading to higher prices.
He has urged the government to lower taxes on construction materials to assist home builders.
The estimated cost for building a house now stands at 75 lakhs, making it even more challenging for low-income families.
