More rains, gusty winds expected in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Weather update; Isolated rainfall expected in Islamabad, Pakistan

Peshawar and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are expected to experience rains, gusty winds, and isolated heavy downpours on Thursday night and Friday, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

Monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal are influencing the upper and central regions of Pakistan, while a westerly wave is forecasted to affect the upper parts of the country starting tonight.

Areas likely to be affected include Dir, Swat, Chitral, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Battagram, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Khyber, Mohmand, Bajaur, Swabi, Mardan, Nowshera, Peshawar, Kohat, Hangu, Karak, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, Waziristan, and Kurram, where rains and gusty winds are expected, with isolated heavy falls possible.

In Peshawar, temperatures are expected to range between 34-36°C on Friday and Saturday.

Over the past 24 hours, hot and humid conditions prevailed across most of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with isolated rain showers and thundershowers occurring in some areas of the province.

Peshawar remained the hottest place in the province where the maximum temperature was recorded at 40°C. Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 40 per cent. Maximum temperature in Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan was recorded at 39°C.
