LAHORE – Pakistan Railways has increased passenger train fares following a rise in petroleum prices by the federal government in the second half of July 2024.

The railway administration has issued a notification announcing a one percent fare increase across all classes, including Economy, AC Standard, AC Business, and AC Parlor.

The increase in ticket prices applies to Mail, Express, and Intercity passenger trains, as well as all trains operated under public-private partnerships.

The fare increase will take effect from Friday, July 19. Divisional superintendents have been instructed to update the fare tables accordingly.

Economy Class, AC Standard, and AC Business Latest Ticket Prices

The prices of economy class, AC Standard, AC Business, and AC Parlor have been revised up by one percent. Starting from July 19, the railways will charge the ticket prices accordingly.

Petrol Prices in Pakistan from July 16

Following several reductions in petroleum prices, the federal government has increased petrol and diesel prices by Rs9.99 and Rs6.18 per liter, effective from July 16, 2024.

The Ministry of Finance issued a notification increasing the price of petrol by Rs 9.99 per liter, setting the new price at Rs 275.60 per liter. The price of high-speed diesel has been raised by Rs 6.18 per liter, with the new price set at Rs 283.63 per liter.

The increase in petrol prices is attributed to recent trends in the international oil market. Additionally, the government plans to impose an additional petroleum levy of Rs 5 in the coming days, further impacting the price hike.
