Pakistan Sees $3.3 Million Boost in Meat Exports to China Over Nine Months
Pakistan’s meat exports to China reached $3.37 million between January and September 2024, according to data from the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC).
Ghulam Qadir, the Trade and Investment Counsellor at Pakistan’s Embassy in Beijing, highlighted that Chinese consumers are increasingly open to trying high-quality meat from countries like Pakistan.
He noted that Pakistan’s strong tradition in beef and mutton production aligns well with Chinese preferences. This growing demand is part of China’s strategy to diversify its meat sources and strengthen food security.
Qadir attributed this milestone to Pakistan’s hard work and strategic planning. The government has supported exporters by implementing policies to enhance export capabilities.
Pakistani meat exporters have successfully met China’s strict quality standards, from maintaining hygiene to ensuring a consistent supply, proving their ability to compete internationally, he told CEN.
Mongolia and Pakistan are currently the top exporters of boiled meat to China. From January to September 2024, Pakistan exported 694 tons of boiled meat valued at $3.371 million, while Mongolia exported 2,410 tons worth $10.24 million.
It is noteworthy that GACC approved Pakistani companies to export boiled meat to China last year, with three Pakistani firms now registered for this purpose.
