PSX 100-Index hits new high with 4.96% gain

The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) experienced a significant rebound on Wednesday as the 100-Index surged by 4,695.09 points, marking a positive change of 4.96%.

The index closed at 99,269.25 points, up from 94,574.16 points on the previous trading day.

A total of 1,057,104,968 shares were traded, slightly lower than the 1,116,324,649 shares traded in the prior session. The value of shares exchanged during the day amounted to Rs. 39.556 billion, compared to Rs. 43.291 billion on the previous trading day.

Out of 453 companies that participated in trading, 356 recorded gains, 52 suffered losses, and 45 remained unchanged.

The top trading companies included the Bank of Punjab, with 114,966,225 shares traded at Rs. 7.85 per share; Hascol Petroleum, with 106,286,630 shares traded at Rs. 12.59 per share; and K-Electric Limited, with 91,200,956 shares traded at Rs. 5.15 per share.

Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited recorded the highest gain of the day, with its share price increasing by Rs. 348.78 to close at Rs. 19,368.13. Rafhan Maize Products Company Limited followed, with a rise of Rs. 175.25 per share, closing at Rs. 7,988.75.

On the other hand, Rafhan Services Limited recorded the highest loss, dropping by Rs. 50.29 to close at Rs. 827.72. Sapphire Textile Mills Limited also declined, losing Rs. 26.35 to end at Rs. 1,151.64.

The market’s bullish trend reflects a boost in investor confidence.
