Over 5.489 million cotton bales arrive at ginneries
As of January 15, 2025, ginning factories across Pakistan have processed over 5.489 million (5,489,818) bales of seed cotton (phutti), reflecting a 33.52 percent decline compared to the same period last year.
A report issued by the Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) reveals that cotton arrivals in Punjab stood at 2,686,521 bales, marking a 35.40 percent decrease from last year’s 4,158,606 bales. In Sindh, cotton arrivals totaled 2,803,297 bales, which is a 31.62 percent drop compared to 4,099,509 bales in the previous year.
Cotton arrivals in Balochistan were recorded at 156,500 bales.
According to the PCGA, exporters and traders acquired 46,700 cotton bales, while the textile sector purchased 4,901,034 bales. The Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) did not procure cotton for the 2024-25 period. Additionally, 542,084 unsold bales remained in stock.
Currently, 140 ginning factories are operational in Pakistan.
