Yamaha has increased the prices of its motorcycles, following the lead of Honda and other car makers, after new taxes were introduced in the 2025-26 federal budget. One of the new measures includes a New Energy Vehicle (NEV) levy that applies to the automobile sector.

The company announced a major hike in the prices of its bikes as a result of these new tax policies. The price increase is mainly due to the NEV levy introduced in the latest budget.

After this hike, the price of Yamaha’s YB125Z has gone up to Rs429,000, which includes an extra Rs4,057 added because of the NEV levy. The YB125Z DX now costs Rs459,500. The YBR125, which is one of the company’s most popular models, is now being sold for Rs471,500.

The YBR125G in black now has a price of Rs490,500, while the most expensive model, the YBR125G with a matte finish, is now priced at Rs493,500.

Company officials have pointed to the new tax structure, especially the NEV levy, along with rising operational and import costs as the main reasons for the price increase. These changes are in line with what’s happening across the local auto industry, as other manufacturers are also adjusting prices in response to budget-related cost pressures.

The increase in prices is expected to put more financial pressure on consumers, especially in the commuter bike segment, where Yamaha has a strong presence.

This is the latest in a series of price changes by Yamaha, showing the continued instability in the auto market due to changing tax policies and ongoing economic challenges.
