Cement prices across Pakistan witnessed decline amid extreme weather conditions as heavy rains and floods wreaked havoc.
The Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS) has reported that the average price of a 50-kg cement bag has fallen by Rs36, now costing Rs1,412 compared to Rs1,448 during the same time last year.
Cement prices are different in every city. In Islamabad and Karachi, a bag sells for Rs1,350 to Rs1,370, while in Rawalpindi it costs Rs1,370. In Lahore, Gujranwala, and Bahawalpur, prices are around Rs1,430 to Rs1,450, whereas Faisalabad records one of the lower prices at Rs1,370.
Among the major cities, Peshawar (Rs1,350) and Bannu (Rs1,340) offer the cheapest rates, while Quetta (Rs1,510) and Khuzdar (Rs1,483) remain the most expensive places to buy cement. According to the FBS report, some areas have seen a clear decrease in prices, but in other regions, rates are still going up because of supply problems caused by floods.
