ISLAMABAD: The federal government is expected to increase petroleum product prices from March 1, 2026, following a surge in global crude oil rates.
According to sources, the proposed hike could reach up to Rs6.80 per litre.
Under the recommendations, the price of petrol is likely to be increased by Rs5.13 per litre, taking the new rate to Rs263.30 per litre. Similarly, the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) is expected to go up by Rs6.80 per litre, pushing its price to Rs282.50 per litre.
The report indicates that the anticipated increase is primarily due to rising crude oil prices in the international market, which are impacting local fuel costs.
It is worth noting that in the previous fortnightly review, the federal government had raised the price of high-speed diesel to Rs275.70 per litre, while petrol was set at Rs258.17 per litre.
