‘Pakistani General’ for the first time on American TV series

The ninth episode of the eighth and final season of the American TV series ‘Homeland’ was a surprise for Pakistani fans as for the first time Pakistani veteran actor Adnan Jaffar appeared in a role of Pakistani general.

Although it was a brief role, it is important that whenever a Pakistani character plays in a Hollywood movie or drama, it is usually given to an Indian actor.

Indian actress Nimrat Kaur plays the role of ISI agent Tasneem Qureshi in the ‘Homeland’ series.
It is certainly a pleasure to see a Pakistani actor in the role of a Pakistani general.

Adnan Jaffar’s name is not new in Pakistani films and drama industry. He has been playing different roles for a long time, especially since his film ‘Pinki Mem Sahib’ was praised by critics.

He is also known for his work in theatre for which he is extensively appreciated.

The popular American TV series ‘Homeland’ was launched in October 2011, with Cary Mathewsen, a CIA official serving on various missions. The role is played by American actress Claire Danes.

The eighth and final season of the Homeland series began in February this year, in the ninth episode of which General Aziz played the role of Pakistan’s General Aziz.
