Bollywood-winning Oscar composer, AR Rahman’s daughter, Khatija Rahman, weaved magic with her soulful kalaam at the 2020 Dubai Expo on Saturday.

Often criticised for choosing to wear a burqa and covering her face, this marks the budding singer’s first-ever international performance where she performed a kalaam written by herself called Farishton. Her performance was shared by AR Rahman on his YouTube channel where it picked up a ton of fans.

The kalaam is indeed beautiful and hits all the right chords in our hearts. The aspiring artist shared in an earlier interview that she often thinks she’s not doing enough to follow after her father. She shared, “I’m still finding myself and I hope there is a day when I’m just defined by my name, that’s what I’m craving. I spoke to a lot of people who said it’s very normal to go through that existential crisis – like, what am I doing? Am I doing enough?”
