KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain accompanied by thunder in Karachi on Saturday afternoon or evening, offering possible relief from the city’s ongoing hot and humid weather.
The PMD said cloudy conditions are expected to persist across the port city during the next 24 hours, with temperatures likely to remain high amid increased humidity.
The maximum temperature in Karachi is expected to reach 36 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 29.5°C. Humidity levels remained at 82%, with sea breezes blowing at a speed of 8 kilometres per hour.
The forecast comes as a depression over eastern Madhya Pradesh is expected to move westward during the next 24 to 36 hours, while monsoon currents continue to enter eastern and central parts of Pakistan.
According to the weekly weather outlook issued on July 31, rain-wind and thundershowers are expected in Sindh on August 1, with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall possible in some areas.
For Karachi, the weather department has specifically predicted chances of rain with thunder during the afternoon or evening, along with cloudy skies throughout the day.
The ongoing monsoon system is affecting weather patterns across different parts of Pakistan, bringing rainfall, winds, and thunderstorms to several regions.
