However, in the five years following Leto’s involvement with Tron 3, the film didn’t make much progress until Disney re-entered it into production in 2020. However, the director of Tron 3 was soon confirmed to be Garth Davis (Lion). Leto appeared to have revealed the sequel’s title in a since-deleted tweet, which referred to the film as Tron: Ares. Despite the celebrity advertising his physical transformation in preparation for the sci-fi sequel picture, there has been no major news on the film’s status for more than a year.

Meanwhile, while fans wait for Tron 3, Leto is presently promoting Sony’s Morbius. Which hits theatres on April 1st, and Leto has finally spoken about the film. In an interview, Jared stated, “I’m a huge fan of Tron, and we’re hard at work on it with our fantastic Disney collaborators. Simply put, this is an incredible bunch of talented folks. We’re nearing the finish line. We’re getting closer and closer, and who knows what will happen next? Something could happen sooner rather than later.”
Leto’s upbeat Tron 3 update could mean that Disney has chosen to go through with the sequel. Interestingly, despite having Leto signed on to star, Davis attached to helm, and a screenplay by Jesse Wigutow, Disney has yet to publicly give Tron 3 the go light, according to insiders.
