However, in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy, Maguire was the first actor to play Spider-Man in the twenty-first century. The three films were enormous box office hits when they were released between 2002 and 2007. In a recent featurette, Maguire admitted to being “blown away” by Holland while filming No Way Home. “Right away, the first scene we filmed together, I was simply blown away by how terrific he was in the scene and how generous and sensitive he was,” Tobey said in an interview.

Co-star Andrew Garfield echoed these sentiments, stating that No Way Home was genuinely Holland’s Spider-Man film, with all of the focus on him. Stars like Maguire and Garfield praising Holland are unquestionably high praise.
Meanwhile, since the release of No Way Home, fans have been speculating whether Maguire and Garfield will return to the MCU or perhaps star in additional standalone films. While nothing has been confirmed, “never say never” is an excellent attitude to live by. With Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness set to enter theatres shortly, it’s evident that the MCU isn’t done with the Multiverse just yet, thus the characters could return at any time.
