Tom Parker was ready to become a father for the second time when he was told he had an incurable brain tumour.

His wife Kelsey was expecting a baby boy, a younger sibling for their daughter Aurelia.

Tom, who died on Wednesday at the age of 32, claimed he used the pregnancy as a focus to help him deal with the diagnosis and early treatment for glioblastoma, an aggressive form of cancer.

And The Wanted star was resolved to fight the dreadful cancer for his two children, which he did valiantly for 17 months.

However, his untimely death at the age of 33 means that the couple’s ultimate hope for additional children and a family of six will never come true.

Kelsey revealed his sickness to OK! magazine and said: “We’re thinking about having more kids – I’ve always wanted a big family, and I think we’ll end up with four.

“Our two children are just 16 months apart in age, but it’s been a lot, even without considering our circumstances, so I won’t have children so close in age again — doing it once was enough.

During his sickness, Tom and Kelsey discussed how they would inform their Aurelia and son, Bodhi.

She told the publication: “I want children to understand that life isn’t always sunny, but we make it through. I’m sure we’ll say, ‘Dad has a brain tumour, but he’s battling it.'”

Tom went to the doctor after having a seizure on a family vacation to Norwich.

Following weeks of inexplicable convulsions, Tom was eventually given the testing he required, with physicians informing him that he had a grade four glioblastoma.

The usual life expectancy for such an ailment ranges from three months to 18 months following diagnosis.

Tom and Kelsey agreed not to be notified of his illness’s prognosis.

“I indicated that for Tom’s state of mind and who he is as a person, that would not be healthy for him,” Kelsey added. He would actually sit here and count the days till he died, not living his life.

Tom added: “I need everyone’s love and positivity. I am going to fight this.

“We are already looking at alternative medicines and clinical trials both here and abroad, and our friends are conducting research.”

“There are several tales of people who were given a poor prognosis and are still alive five, ten, or even fifteen years later.” We’re going to fight this until the bitter end.”

Tom, who was born in Bolton, died on Wednesday, accompanied by his family and bandmates, after disclosing his tumour in October 2020. He had glioblastoma that had progressed to stage four and had began radiation and chemotherapy.

“Tom was a wonderful husband to Kelsey and a wonderful father to Aurelia and Bodhi.”

“He was our brother, and words cannot explain how heartbroken and bereft we are.” “We will remember you always and forever in our hearts.”

His spouse, Kelsey Parker, previously Hardwick, claimed his loss crushed her family’s hearts.

“It is with the heaviest of hearts that we report Tom passed away peacefully earlier today with all of his family at his side,” she posted on Instagram.
