‘unspoken code’ led Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to believe royals were ‘against them.’

An author claims in an updated book that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were concerned that the “entire [royal] institution” was against them because to a “unspoken code.”

The couple feared The Firm had it in for them before announcing their notorious departure from the UK, when the Queen issued an official portrait of her heirs.

The photograph, which was made public at the start of 2020, featured the Queen standing in Buckingham Palace’s Throne Room with her son, Prince Charles, her grandson, Prince William, and our youngest future monarch, Prince George.

On the surface, the lovely photo appears to be just securing the future of the British Monarchy, but royal biographer Andrew Morton alleges it created uproar behind the palace gates.

“The royal couple believed that the entire establishment was working against them. The proof was all around them as they saw it “In an updated edition of Meghan: A Hollywood Princess, he writes.

“The tacit pact was simple: the monarchy’s future was secure, with or without Meghan and Harry.”

These suspicions were eventually validated, according to Morton, when the Queen cancelled a meeting with Harry in which he intended to discuss his royal destiny.

“This sense that, despite their international popularity, they were low down the royal totem pole was confirmed when Harry arranged to meet the Queen for a grandson-to-grandmother chat in early January,” he writes.

“At the last minute the meeting was postponed. Harry suspected classic internal politics, his family concerned that anything the Queen agreed during informal conversations would be used by Harry as a negotiating tactic.”

On January 8, Harry and Meghan made the shocking news that they would be stepping down from important positions within the royal family.

The pair announced their decision on social media, saying they’d spent “many months” thinking about it, and that they planned to “carve out a progressive new position inside [the] institution” while being financially independent.

Since then, Harry and Meghan have talked openly about their choice to depart, first on The Late Late Show with James Cordon and then in a shocking interview with Oprah Winfrey.
