According to a royal source, the Duchess of Cambridge had a “crippling phobia” of public speaking when she first married Prince William.

Kate had a lot to learn as a member of the royal family, including how to curtsy and speak in front of large crowds of people.

While she may appear to be a natural at it now, this was not always the case.

According to royal analyst Camilla Tominey, when the Duchess initially joined The Firm, she struggled to overcome her anxiety of public speaking, having always shied away from being the centre of attention.

Camilla stated on the BBC podcast Images of Diana in 2017: “I believe Kate is finding it tough because she is naturally timid. I believe she could give herself more credit if she spoke up more.”

Camilla claimed that Kate had a phobia of speaking in public, but that it was something she would have to overcome if royal ladies were to be modern and “heard as well as seen.”

“She’s suffered from a severe phobia of public speaking.” “Camilla went on. “Which Arthur [Edwards, royal photographer] and I have witnessed firsthand — as have the rest of the press pack — when she has had to address large crowds.

“Because princesses need to be heard as well as seen if the royals are to be contemporary and extremely 21st century.”

The Guardian stated that after Kate’s first public address in 2012, she told a visitor, “I find delivering speeches nerve-wracking.”

However, Camilla, a royal specialist, has only talked favourably of Kate’s growth and how she has matured into her royal job since then.

She even stated that she is now one of the most powerful members of the Royal Family.

“When it comes to their generation, you might say [Kate and Prince William] are dominating the royal roost,” she claimed in a Telegraph interview late last year.

Kate was a natural match for her position once she overcame her anxiety of public speaking.

Kate’s mother-in-law, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, provided her some advise to ensure her marriage and status in the family lasted the test of time.

Camilla’s essential tip for Kate was to make sure her life moulded to the way William leads his, in order to make the union last.
