Academy president accepts Will Smith’s resignation, ‘Awaiting repercussions’

Will Smith’s resignation has been accepted by Academy President David Rubin, who is awaiting “due ramifications of acts.”

Mr. Rubi responded to Smith’s decision in a statement issued shortly after Smith’s announcement.

It announced the Academy’s intentions moving forward and reads, “We have received and accepted Mr Will Smith’s immediate resignation from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.”

According to People magazine, the president went on to add, “We will continue to move forward with our disciplinary proceedings against Mr Smith for violations of the Academy’s Standards of Conduct, in advance of our next scheduled board meeting on April 18.”

This remark comes in reaction to Smith’s own announcement, in which he stated that he expects to appear in front of a disciplinary tribunal and that he regrets “allowing violence to overpower reason.”
