Dakota Johnson teases new cast members for upcoming Spider-Man spinoff
Dakota Johnson is ready to return to the screen in Netflix’s highly anticipated adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic Persuasion, and the streaming giant has released a first look as well as the film’s April 21 release date.
Johnson will play Anne Elliot in the film, which is billed as a’modern and funny’ adaptation of Jane Austen’s novel and will be released on Netflix on July 15.
Johnson is seen staring out of a window in a historical costume in photos posted by Netflix. Last year, she was spotted filming for the film in Bath, where Austen lived for five years.
Other images posted by the streamer include Anne’s nephew William Elliot and her love interest Captain Frederick Wentworth, who play the male characters in the film.
Henry Golding, who starred in Crazy Rich Asians, portrays William, while Cosmo Jarvis, who starred in Peaky Blinders, plays Captain Frederick.
Variety previously reported that Netflix’s adaptation of Austen’s universe will be more’modern,’ with Persuasion being the most recent film to include color-blind casting.
The mega-hit series Bridgerton is the most noteworthy example of color-blind casting on Netflix.
