‘I was a pretty negligent man,’ Sean Penn says of his relationship with ex-wife Leila

Sean Penn discussed his divorce from Leila George, revealing that he is still in love with her.

The Mystic River actor opened out about his friendship with George in an interview with the magazine Hollywood Authentic.

“There’s a lady I’m so in love with, Leila George, who I only see on a day-to-day basis now, since I (expletive) ruined the marriage,” the 61-year-old actor revealed. We were only married for a year, but I was a terrible husband for five years.”

“But I allowed myself to think that my place in so many other things was so important,” he continued, “and that included my place in being totally depressed and driven to alcohol and Ambien at 11 o’clock in the morning by watching the news, by watching the Trump era, by watching it and just despairing.”

“And it turns out that beautiful, incredibly kind, imaginative, talented young women who marry a man quite senior to them in years don’t love it when they wake up from their peaceful night’s sleep to find their new husband on the couch, having been up since 4, watching all of the (expletive) that’s going on in the world and has decided that 10:30 a.m. is a good time to down a double vodka tonic and an Ambien and watch all of the (expletive) that’ I’m going to pass out for a few hours to get away from it all (crap),’ says the narrator “Penn joined to the conversation.

“As it turns out, ladies as described don’t care for that,” he explained.

“I know that he is my best buddy in the world and undoubtedly the most inspirational, motivating person, outside of my own blood, that anyone could expect to have in their life,” the actor said of the Australian-American actor.

Penn stated that while he does not know what will happen in the future, he has changed and now prioritizes his loved ones.
