Jada Pinkett ‘insisted’ on vacation amid family conflict over Sam’s Oscar slap

Despite the fact that the Smith family has been the subject of relentless criticism since Will Smith’s Oscars snub last month, Jada Pinkett Smith isn’t letting the drama spoil her vacation.

“Will and Jada have taken the family on [a] vacation that was already planned,” an insider spilled to Us Weekly of the Hollywood couple’s trip with their kids, Jaden Smith, 23, and Willow Smith, 21, to India. “There had been talk of canceling [the trip] but Jada insisted.”

The King Richard actor was spotted in Mumbai, India, on Saturday, April 23, and appeared to be in high spirits, as he smiled and took photos with admirers, according to the site.

And while they appear to be taking a well-deserved break from Hollywood after Smith’s outburst at the 94th Annual Academy Awards over a joke about his wife made by Chris Rock — with the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air actor getting up from his seat at the awards show and slapping the comedian across the face — it appears that Smith and Pinkett Smith still have a long way to go in terms of getting back on track.

The famed couple is apparently more strained than ever following the Oscars debacle. “The tension between them has been palpable,” said a source, who pointed out: “There have been problems for years, but they’re barely speaking right now.”
